Why this exists
The OET fee is AU$587. For a nurse in Pakistan that is above one lakh rupees; for most staff nurses anywhere it is more than a month’s pay. And the usual way to discover you were twenty points short is to sit it, wait, and read the card.
Home practice does not help, because home practice flatters. No clock, a second listen, a look back at the text, and a score that means nothing. This does not flatter you. The clock does not stop, the audio plays once, and leaving the page ends the attempt — so the number at the end is the number you would have got.
How it works
Name, email, and a few questions about where you are and where you want to work. A minute, and it is what lets the verdict speak to your situation rather than to nobody in particular.
Forty-two questions across Parts A, B and C. One audio, played once, exactly as the real exam does it. No pause, no rewind.
Part A is fifteen minutes on its own and then closes, as in the real paper. Parts B and C get the remaining forty-five.
Both scores on the 0 to 500 scale, your grade, and the Part A/B/C split. Clear 360 in both and your certificate is issued. Fall short and you are shown the one part that cost you the grade, and the module that fixes it.
What you actually get
A number on its own tells you nothing you can act on. So the result names the weakest part of the weakest paper, in marks, and points at the one module written for it — because “study more” is not a plan and Reading Part C at 6 out of 16 is.
If you clear 360 in both
Your name, both scores, both grades, dated and numbered. Evidence that you sat two full papers under conditions and cleared the line.
If you do not
How many points short, in which paper, caused by which part — and the module that treats it. Told while you still have time to use it.
Before you start
Somewhere quiet, headphones on, about two hours free. Treat it as you would the real thing, or the answer it gives you is worthless.
